In honor of Giving Tuesday, Paragon Security supports the amazing work of Extreme Kids & Crew – a NYC supportive community of accessible spaces where young people with disabilities and their crew thrive through the arts, play, and conversation.
About Extreme Kids & Crew
Extreme Kids eases the exclusion and isolation our families regularly experience with free, in-person and virtual, arts and play programs throughout NYC. Over the past year, their biggest accomplishment has been the ongoing development and implementation of their remotely-delivered programs including their parent advocacy group, Powerful Parents, and clubs that offer children and teens the chance to explore their special interests with like-minded neurodiverse peers. They also partnered with individual artists and organizations to offer live-streamed events for the whole family, e.g. weaving, magic shows, and animal encounters.
Over the summer, Extreme Kids returned to in-person programming, inviting families to “Fridays at the Park” at sensory-friendly playgrounds, with live music, unstructured play, and socializing. They also work closely with P.S. 15 to offer summer camp and after-school programming throughout the year.
In 2022, Extreme Kids will continue their family-based activities in-person, offering monthly special events, such as “Pirating: Learn to become a pirate on a ship in Red Hook”, “Beatboxing in the Bronx”, therapeutic horsebacking riding in Queens with GallopNYC, ice skating at LeFrak Center in Prospect Park, and their first annual Disability Day Fair in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
