The burglary rate in the United Statesiscontributing to an increase in home security system sales, The Erie-Times News reported.
According to the news source, this trend is especially clear in the Erie region, where some homeowners are purchasing advanced security systems or updatingolder ones in light of crime.
The report said many homeowners used to look at theft and similar crimes and recognize that they happen, but assume they are safe in their neighborhood. Increases in crime and growing access to burglary reporting services are helping people see that there is risk and recognizing the need for security systems.
Industry expert Matt Reiser told The Erie-Times News that the changing perception around security problems are encouraging people to buy systems to prevent theft, not just as a result of it.
“Studies have shown it, and I’ve been in this business 15 years and have seen it: When there are three houses in a row and the house on the left and the house on the right both have security signs in the yard, it’s the house in the middle that gets broken into,” Reiser told the news source.
Homeowners hoping to protect their assets have plenty of options available to them. Investing in integrated security solutions provides households with multiple layers of protection through accessible technologies.
