The meme “what people think I’m doing / what I really do,” composes of a collection of images reflecting stereotypes in relation to specialization in a particular area. Each image reflects assumptions of certain groups of people in relation to the field and confronts us with our concept vs the true nature of the occupation. The first series began by German artist Gannett Hertz who created a collage of pictures on his own Facebook page on February 2nd, receiving many comments and inspiring many imitations. Many circulated the meme, creating their own versions: a film director, smoker, technology journalist, IT support, designer, Web developer and science student.
