Police in Portland, OR, are trying to track down a car prowler who was caught on cam breaking a car’s windows and stealing bags from the car.

The incident happened on a gravel parking lot neighboring a residence building. The building is equipped with security cameras, one of which covered the parking lot. The footage shows a green minivan pulling up next to a parking car. The driver gets out and examines the parking car. Then he is seen busting the front and rear passenger windows and pulling out two backpacks from inside. Then he rushes back into his own car and drives off.

The car was left there for a short while while the owner, Kirk Johansen, went jogging. When he returned from his run he discovered the car’s bad state, but also a note that was left on the car reading “I may have the video surveillance of who did this”. Johansen was pleased that besides his two kids’ backpacks, the thief did not discover his wallet, which was also in the car.
