KEY FREE. BE FREE. ENTR® SMART LOCKS
When it comes to protecting your home and family, safety and security are top priority. But let’s face it, you also need a trustworthy solution that easily fits into the routine of your daily life.
Mul-T-Lock ENTR® is the intelligent locking solution you have been waiting for. ENTR® combines the protection of a mechanical cylinder together with the convenience of advanced technology − without compromising on performance.
Systems such as the ENTR® from Mul-T-Lock allow you to easily upgrade your existing door lock into an electronic smart locking system, eliminating the need for keys. Giving you the freedom to lock your door or create, duplicate and use virtual keys to open your door right from your smartphone, tablet or Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a fingerprint reader, touchpad or remote control.
Imagine that you have a key-based safe in your home, a key for your office, one for your car, one for the front door, another for the back door, one for the dead-bolt and a few keys for exterior buildings, like a garage and a shed. This isn’t a particularly unusual situation, as many homeowners need at least five or six keys in total when you take vehicles into account. Now imagine it is one in the morning and you are coming home from a party during a thunderstorm. Chances are you don’t want to shuffle through your keychain finding the right key for your door and the dead-bolt to get into your home. You may just leave your dead bolt unlocked if you know you’re going to come home in the rain later, right? An electronic lock makes this process much simpler because it can be unlocked with a simple key fob or even your smartphone.
Smartphones and tablets make plenty of things easier in life, and getting into or out of the house is one of them. Many electronic locks are accompanied by mobile applications that allow you to control your lock remotely. This lets you, for example, lock your door and dead-bolt from the comfort of your car on a cold winter morning. Furthermore, this eliminates the dependence on keys to get into and out of your house, making it much easier and more convenient to deal with the multiple locks protecting your home.
Mobile capabilities also eliminate many worries that could surround home ownership. For example, if you go on vacation and think you may have left the door unlocked, you can lock the door from your smartphone. Convenience is key when it comes to home security. Electronic locks that can work with mobile devices delivery this ease of use.
Plenty of people take shortcuts when it comes to locking their door because it can be annoying to get back in later. Electronic doors eliminate this need because they offer so much convenience that shortcuts become unnecessary. Furthermore, cheap-looking locks can often make your home a target for a criminal. This is especially true if you live in a housing development or area where one contractor built the majority of the homes, as a contractor who is known to cut corners on things like locks. Burglars are quick to notice these kinds of trends and have been known to target homes based on potentially poor lock installations.
An electronic system may seem like too much high-tech hardware for your home, but the technology has evolved substantially in recent years. As a result, you can often get a simple electronic lock system that is cost efficient enough to fit your budget and not so egregiously high-tech that it no longer seems to fit your house. Refined electronic locks are often simple to use, look almost the same as regular locks and provide a vital layer of protection for homeowners that want to combine convenience with high levels of protection.
Exciting News: ENTR Smart Lock Solution won the 2015 Digital Home Gadget Award.

Siedle USA CEO Showcases Next Generation Intercom Security Technology
Siedle USA CEO, Karl Lamprecht recently stopped by to showcase the next generation of Intercom security technology including 3D face recognition, touch panel, mobile phone video connectivity, and many more features.
3D FACE RECOGNITION
Adatis TouchEntry / FaceEntry biometric features such as the face are unique and identify a person without any doubt. Face detection also provides a high level of acceptance because it€˜s safe, quick and easy to use. It requires no contact and is therefore harmless and hygienic. The technology which is used by Adatis is based on latest research results, working with a three-dimensional acquisition of the face in the invisible infrared range. When a face in front of the camera is detected, it is measured three dimensional and the extracted features are compared against features stored in a database of the unit. All this takes less than one second. As only abstract features are stored a reconstruction of a face from the features is not possible. Operation does not require any user interaction: If the person standing in front of the door is enrolled, i.e. in the data base, the door opens automatically.
ACCESS CONTROL – TIME AND ATTENDANCE
For small installations with a single door or a few doors FaceEntry-XT/TouchEntry-XT operates in stand-alone mode without a server. Authorized and enrolled staff members are stored in an internal database. If several systems are installed at a site, operation in server mode is recommended: Access data is centrally stored and managed in a server database. For integration into existing or large installations the system works in reader mode: User data is gathered via biometry, RFID card or PIN code and transmitted to a centralized management system. Communication is accomplished either via Ethernet (TCP/IP) or via a serial port with appropriate protocols. The management system grants or denies access and controls the FaceEntry/TouchEntry terminal. The flexibility of the LCD touch screen allows the system also to be used for time and attendance.
BIOMETRY, RFID, PIN-CODE
FaceEntry® allows the combination of biometry using 3D face detection, RFID and PIN code. So you can enhance the security according to your requirements or migrate from traditional access cards to a state-of-the-art biometric system
INTUITIVE TOUCH INTERFACE
Ever since the proliferation of smartphones, everyone knows the benefits of touch technology. By pointing a finger you ring the door bell or choose a contact from the phone list – nice to have this now also available for your entrance.
Visitors either choose their desired point of contact directly using the built-in phone book – or ring the door bell for the receptionist. As the unit is networked, distance does not matter any more and the receiving station can be anywhere in the world. The high quality echo cancellation allows for natural voice communication, without loosing a word. At the same time you will see the person and the situation in front of the door, live and in color, anytime, even if no one is ringing.
Contact us to learn more about Siedle’s next generation of Intercom security technology. The Paragon team can help make the most of your security investments with an integrated system solution. Paragon Security proudly serves customers throughout New York, including in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and elsewhere in NYC.

All PadLocks Are Not Created Equal
Padlocks are a one-off cost for providing businesses or individual users a way to protect areas or possessions when left unattended. This can include tools at a business or job site, lockers at work or school, and any area that needs to be locked up to prohibit others from entering.
But what kind of padlock do you choose? Pay careful attention to the type of lock you purchase to make sure that your valuables will be protected against possible break-ins, theft or vandalism. The size, shape and cost of a padlock should reflect the value of the items you want to protect.
Low Cost = Low Security
A large padlock does not necessarily mean it is stronger. The type of material your padlock is made from has a big bearing on the security level and the price. If it is made from cheap materials it will be much easier to break than a smaller, hardened steel version with a protected shackle.
Durable and strong, padlocks are made to withstand force. Steel padlocks are somewhat stronger than brass as steel is a harder metal. Brass is a relatively soft metal making it quick and inexpensive to machine. So if the padlock is somewhere that may be vulnerable to burglars, steel should be your choice because it can more easily withstand cutting and prying.
Higher Cost = Higher Security
Solid steel and case-hardened steel padlocks are very durable and tamper resistant. They are typically used in higher security applications and are often chrome or zinc-plated to resist corrosion. Stainless steel padlocks are also very durable and tamper resistant but generally hold up to the elements better than solid steel.
One of the world’s leading producers of high security locks is Medeco with pick and drill resistance features that block thieves from gaining entry. When a thief sees Medeco locks on your interior or exterior doors, file cabinets, gates and other secure areas, he will likely decide it isn’t worth the risk.
The Medeco® The Protector II Series padlock is made of durable, industrial grade stainless steel and offers excellent resistance to harsh weather and extreme conditions. The hardened boron alloy steel shackles stand up to physical attack, providing strong resistance against cutting, sawing and prying. The patented Medeco3 mechanical cylinder resists picking, drilling and other sophisticated forms of physical attack.
Unique deadlocking shackle locking mechanism for resistance to physical attack.
Hardened boron alloy steel shackles (5/16″ and 7/16″ diameters) provide strong resistance against cutting, sawing and prying.
Hardened stainless steel inserts inside the cylinder provide the ultimate defense against drilling and other forms of physical attack.
Unique elevating and rotating tumbler pin system is virtually pick proof.
Cylinders are constructed of durable machined brass components, designed to last the life of your equipment.
Patented Medeco3 keys may only be duplicated by Medeco® or an authorized Medeco® service outlet, and only at your request.
Locks can be keyed alike, keyed different, or master keyed depending on your specific needs.
With the vast selection of lock types out there, it’s important to know that you’re dealing with a professional that can tell you the differences and make a recommendation based on your needs. Give Paragon Security NY a call today for any and all of your lock-based needs.

Secure Your Identity By Safeguarding Your Mail
On the surface, the idea of safeguarding your mail probably does not seem like a big deal. But to New Yorkers it is a top priority. Whether a brownstone, townhouse, loft, condo, or apartment building, it is essential that all residents take measures to facilitate a secure delivery of personal mail.
Mail delivered to a group of lock boxes in an apartment building lobby or entry way is vulnerable to curious neighbors, deceptive passerbys and lock-picking thieves. The simple swipe of just one letter can easily lead to identity theft, a phishing scam or otherwise threaten an individual or family.
Typically made of aluminum or steel, mailboxes come in vertical or horizontal units. They can range from one door to sixty door compartment style mailboxes, weather resistant outdoor mailboxes, indoor style mailboxes, front and rear loading style mailboxes, as well as free standing and wall mount style mailboxes. To withstand heavy weathering, outdoor free-standing mailboxes are made of heavy-gauge aluminum.
Building managers and landlords need to be especially mindful of lock quality when it comes to their tenants mailboxes in your NYC building. If the lock is low quality, access is much easier for any person who knows how to pick a lock. A cheap lock can be picked just as quickly as somebody with a key can open the door.
According to the NY Tenant’s Rights Guidelines, United States Postal regulations require landlords of buildings containing three or more apartments to provide secure mail boxes for each apartment unless the management has arranged to distribute the mail to each apartment. Landlords must keep the mail boxes and locks in good repair.
To meet today’s security demands, electronic letterboxes provide a convenient alternative. Among the latest “internet of things” are electronic letterboxes by Siedle. That link the typically disconnected object of the mailbox with the advances of our digital world to offer an ideal addition to an electronic access control system. It knows when to expect your mail, notifies you when it arrives and locks after delivery.
Using a companion app, users can check the status of their mail delivery, remotely lock or unlock the box and even dole out virtual keys to allow neighbors to pick up mail in the absence. Whether surface mounting, flush mounting or free standing: Letterbox systems from Siedle can be installed to address different needs and preferences. Siedle electric letterboxes that can be opened using a fingerprint, code lock or electronic key.

Businesses Use Intelligent Key Management To Reclaim Assets
Minimizing loss associated with accidental damage, theft, and personal injury is a top priority for successful business. Where better to begin than by eliminating unauthorized access to company assets and resources by reclaiming the keys to commercial castle.
Unfortunately, when a conventional key is stolen, mislaid, or inadvertently taken home, company security is compromised. Even if nothing is stolen, and no damage done, the cost and inconvenience of fitting new locks and the impact on productivity can be significant.
The vulnerability lies in the access. The use of keys for any physical asset, including buildings, facilities, equipment, and vehicles can be much better managed with an Intelligent Key management systems, like Traka Touch.
‘Clever keys’ vs conventional keys
Traka’s solution is simple. Keys are effectively electronically tagged with a tamper proof security seal to a metal iFob. The iFob, with keys attached, locks into a receptor strip within the key cabinet until released by an authorized user, turning conventional keys into ‘Clever Keys’.
Keys are readily available 24/7, but to authorised users only
Standalone ‘plug & play’ system with embedded Windows® software
Full audit capability, to retain a complete history of all key and user transactions
Quick on-screen search for keys that are ‘out of system’
View reports directly on screen or export via USB port
Fast to configure and easy to use
No network connection, PC or external database required
Paul Mazaher of Traka demonstrates the benefits of Traka Touch Intelligent Key Management Systems.
Traka Touch is an innovative solution in key management for offices, retail, factories, small industrial units and schools. Using touch screen technology, the Traka Touch is a stand alone, plug & play system. Biometric pet finder
There is a new biometric device that will silence even the most biting of critics: According to a story recently published on www.post-gazette.com, a biometric access control app can help you find your lost pet. The app is known as Finding Rover, and it allows animal shelters to send photos of dogs to an online database.
Each image is run through a software program which measures the eight distinctive dog biometrics that are unique to every dog, such as the size of the eyes and positioning of the snout. This allows pet professionals to use an ordinary smart phone as a biometric reader.
Back at home, distraught owners submit snapshots of their missing dogs, and facial markers from the snapshots are compared to measurements in the lost dog database created by the Finding Rover app. When a match is found, a happy reunion is an email away.
Right now Finding Rover is available only in San Diego County. The response so far has been tremendous and the owners are seeking funds to make it a nationwide service.
Biometrics, like any technology, can be used with malicious intent. But they can also be used to advance causes as noble and universal as uniting man with his best friend.

The new Siedle Scope
Siedle, the leading manufacturer of building communication technology, has taken its state-of-the-art products to a whole new level: by upgrading its mobile video intercom – Siedle Scope – and adding new app for its In-Home bus, Siedle has combined the advantages of both technologies, thereby enlarging the application spectrum and functionality of the mobile video intercom.
The only mobile video call station to operate on a DECT basis and at the same time function as a cordless landline phone, Siedle Scope now presents a groundbreaking combination of mobile video door communication with the new In-Home bus app, bringing together the benefits of DECT with mobile applications. With its audio quality, fault susceptibility, standby time and availability, DECT technology is superior to WiFi or mobile phone applications. At the same time, being popular, user-friendly devices, mobile applications make perfect sense when it comes to video intercoms.
With improved performance and functionality, Siedle Scope includes the following new features:
Repeaters which increase range, a necessity in complex building environments. Up to six repeaters can be operated simultaneously, significantly amplifying the radio signal if required.
Improved video memory and video quality: thanks to the more efficient use of the DECT standard, this cutting-edge technology transfers more data and optimizes the depiction and resolution of the real-time video image. The upgraded video memory can manage up to 50 photos.
New user interface: The start screen supplies an overview of the most important function and a cross-shaped control element is used for navigation. Duplex intercom system, landline telephone, video memory as well as switching and control functions can be intuitively operated. The integrated directory stores around 1,600 call numbers, and up to three for each contact.
The browser-based, platform independent administration software makes configuration both simple and convenient, although it is still possible to edit by means of the telephone keypad.
The hotel mode and hearing aid compatibility are examples of additional functions included in the appliance.
Improved standards of network connection and app:
The new Scope base station serves simultaneously as an IP gateway, with the link to the IP network established by means of a LAN connection. The network connection also allows future software updates. Using the new base station, the In-Home bus from Siedle can also be linked to the latest iPhone and iPad generation, initially for the local WiFi, but later also over the mobile phone network.
With its functionality corresponding to a Siedle indoor station, the new app was developed by the manufacturer to address the specific demands of door communication. Once connection is established, video and audio links are available immediately and simultaneously. The speech quality adheres to Siedle’s strict standards. The door is released by pressing on the relevant symbol with a fingertip, and an electronic signature secures the transmission of the door release. An additional feature prevents undesired operation errors.
