Many people face the unfortunate circumstance of getting locked out of their homes, and in these situations, they can sometimes be forced to pay exorbitant fees to a locksmith.
For example, 11 Alive, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate station, set up six undercover cameras to document what happened when homeowners were unable to open their doors and windows. Unfortunately, the news source discovered a variety of problems, including vastly different asking prices, poor service and lengthy waiting periods.
“I’m mad as hell,” said homeowner Jerry Goodwin, according to the source. “They said it’d cost about $100 bucks. It was $424 dollars! They said, ‘Oh yeah it’d cost a $100 bucks’, a $30 dollar call out and $70 dollars, to replace the lock.”
There are many different home security systems to choose from, but with a remote surveillance camera and an appropriate monitoring service, you can be buzzed into your own home if you forget or lose your keys. What’s more, a keypad lock can also ensure entry in the event of an emergency. Locking systems such as these can be the difference between a safe, satisfied entry and inflated fees.
